What is My Donation Used For?

King County Search And Rescue Association (KCSARA) conducts a number of fundraising efforts annually. Proceeds from these events benefit the local programs and services provided throughout our community.

Your support of KCSARA enables us to ensure continuity of service for the critical, on-going, everyday needs of our neighbors. Services such as: searching for missing children and adults in urban areas throughout King County, rescuing lost and injured recreationists in our forests and wilderness, and locating critical evidence at crime scenes for local law enforcement.

Some specific projects we have in the near future include:

  1. $100. Updating and printing 10 essentials cards. Update a standard tool to help educate outdoor safety. These cards provide a basic reminder of the minimum essentials for going out in the wilderness, all in a credit card size laminated card.
  2. $1500. Survey post cards: How are we doing? These multifunction postcards allow for feedback in an otherwise one-sided conversation. KCSARA and KCSO need more information to support drives for funding and for program development. These cards bring that information in. At the same time, these cards describe the basics of the programs, particularly the 100% volunteer participation, lack of government funding, and no penalty 911 calls. It costs a lot to run this program and we don't want anyone to forget that. But we don't want to discourage any calls that can keep a bad situation from getting worse. Or a minor situation from getting dangerous. Call 911.

Donations received in conjunction with a particular incident, or activity, are distributed according to the expressed intentions of the donors. Where the donors have not expressed such intentions, the funds are distributed to each KCSARA member Unit that participated in the activity as specified in our corporate bylaws.

King County Search And Rescue Association is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization; Federal EIN 91-1331555. Our charitable solicitation program is registered with the State of Washington. Donations are tax deductable to the extent allowed by law.
