KCSO Sponsored EMT Course
KCSO occasionally sponsors active SAR volunteers to take the King County Emergency Medical Services EMT course at no cost to the member. When this course is offered, you need to meet the following requirements to be eligible for the course:
- Member must have been "mission active" for the last year.
- Member must be approved by their unit leadership (the president of their unit or a unit-level board decision). Each unit may have different criteria for what it takes for a member to gain unit approval.
- Member must be approved by the KCSO SAR coordinator.
Using KCSO as a primary affiliation
If you already have EMT training, whether from another state or from the state of Washington, KCSO may be able to sponsor your EMT affiliation. Members need to meet the same critera as is laid out for the EMT course. If there are any extenuating circumstances, your unit leaders may contact the KCSO medical coordinator and request an exception to these rules.
